Seeds to Plant the Gospel

This past Christmas and January were full of incredible stories and warming accounts of God’s care for the poor worldwide through international partners. Be on the lookout for our March newsletter to read these inspiring project stories.

Seeds to Plant the Gospel

But today, we can’t resist sharing news from India through the character program. In Bangalore, Character Solutions International took up training workshops at the police Commissioner’s office for officers, NGOs and social workers. The Commissioner has graciously granted use of their conference hall for this important, monthly seminar! 100-200 community leaders including: Government workers, educators, NGOs, the business sector, youth groups, children and faith leaders will be engaged with the character lessons—a bridge to talking about the character of Jesus. The director of our character campaign at India is using Effective Leadership (by Skip Garmo) and Cultivating Character books for this monthly, intensive training. They plan to use 2,500 books a year. Not only did that leadership seminar begin, but several weeks ago, our partners inaugurated a counseling center for young people, “Premarital Counseling Center” using Cultivating Character as a resource.

Finally, on January 30th our partners traveled to Orissa State to minister to tribal groups. This is where some of the major persecution has recently taken place. Among those equipped were barefoot pastors and Gospel workers in the region. Our Christlikeness teaching guide continues to be a companion discipleship tool for these ministries.

Thousands have committed their lives to Christ. As a result many have demonstrated tremendous courage when persecuted! The new believers are planning for their first Easter celebration, which will be sponsored by funding from Mission to Children.

All of this fruit is growing in a hostile and anti-Christian region of India.

“How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher? And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!'” (Romans 14:14-15)

Our cultivating character campaign in India from 2008-2010.
