Thank You Mission to Children!

By Jacqueline McCarter

[You] help me to live by hope and believe in Jesus.
My name is Isham. I am 8 years old and studying in the 3rd grade in India. Suddenly losing my father due to Covid is a real struggle for me. I cry remembering how he used to buy me chocolates, and he used to love me so much. I am really missing him, and my mother hugs me often and cries loudly.

The slum where I am living has many problems. There are a lot of mosquitos and flies in my house because of a wide-open gutter that is running behind my house. It stinks all the time. We are struggling without any income since my father was the only person working and my mother couldn’t find work due to lockdown restrictions. We don’t have anyone to take care of us; our relatives deserted us. But somehow, we survived the pandemic season.
One of my teachers visited us, prayed, comforted us, and asked me to come to school.

I walked a long distance to my school, and the teachers gave me a bun, a banana, and fruit juice! I was surprised that they [gave] us free schoolbooks, school bags, water bottles, lunch boxes, pens, pencils, and coloring crayons. I got everything I needed to study this year!

My mother was thinking about how to buy school bags and books this year, but God helped us with new hope, because of Jesus!

The Bible verse I like is John 3:16: For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. My teacher also tells me many Bible stories, and I enjoy learning more!

When I complete my education, I want to become a computer engineer. That’s my dream.

[You] help me to live by hope and believe in Jesus. Thank you!

(I believe He will also help my mother and get her a good job as soon as possible!)

Due to safety concerns, and out of an abundance of caution: Names, images, and other details are disguised or substituted as necessary to protect the identities and whereabouts of children, family members, refugees, and field partners.

Honoring 20+ Years of Faithful Service

We would like to acknowledge and thank two beloved longtime staff members for their faithful service to Mission to Children for 20+ years: Jan Garmo and Millie Borden.

Jan Garmo served as our office manager beginning in July of 2000 and is recently retired.

(Jan Garmo): Serving through Mission to Children was a true joy and privilege. One of my highlights was sharing prayer needs with committed prayer partners and donors, and then seeing God answer. Those faithful prayers for salvation, safety, and spiritual growth impacted evangelistic outreaches and teaching opportunities; they provided food and spiritual training to thousands of at-risk children and youth. Through prayer, God’s love touched children who were homeless, deaf, blind, or afflicted by HIV/AIDS or leprosy.

We won’t know the results of our prayers until heaven. But imagine our joy when, in heaven, one of those children comes up and says, “I’m here because of you!”

Millie Borden has served as our administrative assistant since October of 2002 and plans to retire at the end of this year.

(Millie Borden): When I came to MTC in 2002 it took maybe a week for this ministry to wrap itself completely around my heart! Not only have I enjoyed working with everyone at MTC, but over the years I’ve become very fond of our donor relationships. And I’ve been privileged to pray for, or with, many of you. Your heart for those who need to know the Jesus who loves them is such a blessing. I’m going to miss all of you!
