Christmas Gospel Outreaches and Prayer

Christmas Gospel Outreaches

Thanks to you, recent Christmas gospel outreaches brought God’s love to eleven communities in India and Romania. Reports so far indicate that over 6,738 people were reached with the gospel, encouragement, special gifts, and a Christmas celebration meal.

One community was in Kolkata (Calcutta), India, where reportedly less than 1% of the population is Christian. An Indian field partner whose ministry has been serving for over 35 years was deeply stirred in his heart by the oppressive poverty. He wrote us [para]: “Education is still not in reach for those in the countless slums of Kolkata. Food is not affordable. They don’t even have a separate kitchen. They cook outside on the road because many of the slums are located adjacent to railway tracks. So they must cook food only when trains are not rumbling by.”

Tamana’s plate of food

Tamana, an orphan girl living in a slum of Kolkata, caught the attention of the ministry team. She carries a steel plate with her everywhere in search of food. During the recent Christmas gospel outreach, Tamana wasn’t sure why the ministry team had visited her slum. “Why did you come?” she prodded. The ministry team (from a nearby state in India) explained that their Savior had led them to Kolkata. And there little Tamana heard the gospel for the first time. With the gift of her new Bible in her hands, Tamana thanked the ministry team for serving Jesus Christ along with her meal. “A complete meal,” she said. “I thank all the people behind this program because it is not a small thing to feed all the kids in our neighborhood.”

Behind that slum program in Kolkata were praying partners like you.

We thank God that public disturbances couldn’t stop these outreaches. God’s grace was heavily supplying courage to our field partners. Outsiders who’d caught word of the upcoming gospel outreaches were unable to intimidate them. These matters call for incredible prayer and encouragement for the foreseeable future in India. Another field partner in India shared, “By God’s amazing grace, we were protected and bold enough to preach the Gospel!”

From homeless families to blind men and women, to children living in the worst of slums, God’s love pierced into some of the darkest communities.

Please join us in prayer so that even the smallest children come to know and experience God’s love through the gospel. Even through a second helping of food . . . on a plate like Tamana’s.

Because of you, 6,738 people were reached with the gospel, encouragement, special gifts, and a Christmas celebration meal.

Summarized Gift Receipts in 2019

Important: Based on donor feedback, last year we changed our gift receipting practice in order to reduce the administrative mail sent out.

What this means: For 2019, each donor will receive an official, summarized gift receipt for tax purposes after year-end. Although we discontinued issuing single gift receipts on a regular basis, we can confirm your gifts as-needed. Thanks for your graciousness during this change to improve our efficiency.

We’re excited to share with you that beginning this month, a number of us are uniting to pray for the ministries of Mission to Children. This prayer team includes board members, staff, volunteers, and current partners like you.

Join Us in Prayer!

Share in the joy of praying for: The children we are helping, the children we need to reach with the gospel, and the children and grandchildren within our own families.

Below are Scripture-based prayer points that we believe will continue to confirm and resource our next chapter of ministry.

For children, please pray:

  1. That they may personally come to know the God Who loves them and His son Jesus
    (Jeremiah 31:3, John 3:16, John 20:31, Matthew 9:14)
  2. That they may grow in the grace and the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ
    (2 Peter 3:18)
  3. That they will love the Lord their God with all their heart, soul, mind and strength and love their neighbor as themselves (Deuteronomy 6:5, Matthew 22:37-39, Mark 12:30-31, Luke 10:27)
  4. That they will be protected from the evil one (Matthew 6:13, John 17:11)
  5. That they understand God as the ultimate Provider of the assistance they receive help through gospel-based ministry hubs that provide them food, shelter, and education assistance (Psalm 72:12-14).

For Mission to Children, please join with us to ask God:

  1. To open our eyes to His work, and give us the grace to joyfully participate (Psalm 90:16-17)
  2. For wisdom and resource to spread the gospel to children outside of society’s care and concern—especially where we currently work in India. (Psalm 90:17, Psalm 145:4)
  3. For opportunities to encourage our field partners in India, who are enduring by God’s mercy in a severe spiritual battle. (Colossians 1:3-14)
  4. That God bring incredible partnerships to help provide gospel-based education, meals, shelter, and discipleship training for the next generation. (Psalm 90:17, Matthew 10:42)
