Gospel Outreach in Uganda

Thanks to a Mission to Children donor, this recent outreach in Uganda gave 140 children with AIDS a colorful day to remember

An AIDS treatment center in Uganda recently hosted a milestone gospel outreach for the children it serves. One Mission to Children supporter enabled Christians to share God’s love through an outreach event in connection with a Ugandan AIDS treatment center. Led by a local Ugandan pastor, our field partners ministered to 200 people with a meal and a memorable presentation of the gospel message, encouraging the children to trust Christ.

140 of these children were born HIV-positive. 40 of these are double orphans (both parents are deceased).

Children suffering from HIV each received a special package. In their current economic condition, this package represents a very tangible demonstration of God’s love.

Each child received:

  • 5 kg of maize flour (a food staple), sugar, and salt
  • Soap, a bathing scrubber, washcloth, hand towel, handkerchief, skin lotion, toothbrush, and toothpaste
  • Coloring pages and crayons, pencils, a pen, notebook, ball, bracelets, candy, and balloons

Minister to the child, reach the community

The AIDS treatment center director commented that this unique event would be remembered for a long time. They’ve never had anything like this [ministry] before:

“It was a great opportunity for planting the Gospel seed in the hearts of those who came, and that the effects would spread from the families present to the communities!”

Children get into line to be served a meal.
