from the Street to a Home |
My name is Chowramma, I am 11 years old. My father became blind due to a car accident. We are a big family of 8 members including my grandparents from my fathers side. My mother started to work as a domestic helper to meet the family expenses. But what she earns was not sufficient to buy food for the family. I also discontinued my studies. My mother was unable to bear the suffering so she left the home forever with my other sibling to live in different place. My grandparents started doing odd jobs to take care of me and my father but they have become old and weak to work. There was nothing to eat at home. So I ran away from home and joined the street kids to beg.
I got very sick so they left me alone in the street. I want to go back home—but I don’t have a hope there too. Social workers found me in a very bad shape. They brought me to the orphanage in the year of 2001. Here, they took me to hospital and regained my health back. I am very happy I found a new home new family where I am given lots of love and care. Now I have everything I want. I am studying in the 4 th standard, when I grow up I want to become a teacher. I like to memorize Scripture verses and tell stories. Most of the time I enjoy playing with my dolls and play games with my friends. I also love to sing a lot my aunty teaches me very well. I love being with her. I am very happy to be in this wonderful home. Thank you for your love, prayer and support.
