Character Training for More than a Million in India
Problems

Ingrained Corruption: With the exception of one other country, India is still at the top of the Corruption Perception Index for South Asia. (http://www.transparencyindia.org/pdf/CPI_2008_Press_Release.pdf)

70% of Indian respondents expect the level of corruption to increase in the coming three years. (Transparency International Global Corruption Barometer 2007 – Report)

The poor, whether in developing or highly industrialized countries, are the most penalized by corruption. (Transparency International Global Corruption Barometer 2007 – Report)

Offensive Outreach: Evangelism in India often incites antagonism due to the confrontational and disrespectful manner in which it is carried out.

Discipleship Gaps: The teaching in churches across India often overlooks intentional and systematic training in Christlike character. This is especially important in times like these when Christians are experiencing severe persecution and vicious martyrdom.

Solution

Character Solutions InternationalCharacter Solutions® International (CSI), a ministry of MTC, is bringing practical character training and affordable curriculum to more than 1,000,000 youth and adults in India. CSI provides a path of service, outreach, and discipleship.

Time Frame

July 2008 - June 2011

Funds Needed

$2.50/person for a total $2.5 million for translation of materials into 14 regional languages, printing, travel, shipping, training, and project accountability.

Expected Outcome

CSI’s planned outcome after three years is more than 1,000,000 youth and adults trained and challenged to cultivate Christlike character within their families and communities. This is expected to benefit several million children and adults while also helping to heal relationships within communities that are in conflict.

Breakthroughs>Testimonials

An orphanage Director writes:

With the ten character qualities, it is not many months since we conducted the seminar but already we see many things changing. I can say MTC`s CSI is like a catalyst in a chemical reaction for cultivating character here at our orphanage and I myself am a live testimonial.

Some of the home orphans used to rob small things like pencils, erasers, or pocket money which was given to some orphans by their distant relatives. After they heard the CSI seminar the supervisor and teachers say that they haven't seen any orphan getting their things stolen like before. Praise the Lord! These young ones are more into being God’s children through the simple Character Solutions teaching offered by MTC.

Secondly we used to see shy young school girls not performing well due to their shyness. But as the story of courage was taught to them, we began seeing them perform equal to the boys and with more determination.

Leaders whom Dr. Garmo met in India say God has brought this training in His perfect timing to serve this country of 1.2 billion people. One established leader intends to use his network to bring CSI concepts and materials to several hundred thousand homes in India. He says they can touch the lives of more than one million people. Another leader wants to bring these Biblical principles to the 200,000 students enrolled in his academic institute.

How can the MTC family link up with this God-given opportunity? (1) Pray fervently for God's direction, wisdom, protection, and blessing to reach India in ways that bring Him great pleasure and honor. (2) As you pray, give generously to make possible this character-cultivating mission in India. (3) Please share with others the immediate impact of this project.

Have you caught the vision of reaching a million with God's Truth through this MTC ministry?

Did you know? India’s Supreme Court Justice Agrawal said, “Even God will not be able to help this country . . . Our country’s character has gone. We are helpless.” (The Hindu, August 6, 2008)
