Mission To Children’s program, Character Solutions, worked with a division of the Liberian government, the Ministry of Youth & Sports (MYS) mid-February. The Minister of the MYS is a member of the President's cabinet.

Learn—Teach—Train

Following opening ceremonies on Monday, Tuesday through Thursday was devoted to 5-5 1/2 hours of actual training time, preparing the staff of about 60 to train the rest of the MYS in different counties across the country of Liberia. This Saturday, a select group, 30 of these trainees will join our President, to team-teach a group of street kids and orphan children—about 100 of them. This will give us an opportunity to see them teach and give them an opportunity to actually teach kids. Notably, about 40 of the trainees stayed after the seminar to hear the Gospel.

The Deputy Minister for Youth Development knows our program from prior visits. He told the group, "Our Ministry of Youth & Sports (MYS) relationship with Character Solutions International is crucial. We need new approaches like this to make the difference that is needed in New Liberia." He also presented “three Cs” that are important in the new Liberia: Competence, Character, and Contribution. "Contribution" means serving our communities rather than sitting on the sidelines and expecting others to do all the work. 

Another unexpected blessing was that Skip spent time with the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Liberia; the CSI program was the topic of conversation. One of the Associate Justices held a formal meeting with Skip to learn more about how our character program continues to benefit Liberia’s youth population.
