Executive Profile

John Garmo (PhD) enjoys befriending, teaching, and encouraging brothers and sisters in the Lord around the world.

In January of 2000, the Mission To Children welcomed Dr. John Garmo as its third Chief Executive. “Skip,” as friends know him, is a teacher, writer, and world Christian. Under his leadership, the ministry continues teaching adults and training children to “keep looking up” and reaching out.

Skip’s long-time involvement in the Christian para-church ministry has enabled Mission To Children to develop into a mature charity. He served on the board of Open Doors USA, worked with Mission Aviation Fellowship, and Ministry Partners.

During the past three years, Skip has been invited to countries such as Liberia, Bolivia, Egypt, Grenada, India, Romania, Lebanon, Lithuania, and Jordan to facilitate character training seminars, building Christlike character into children and the adults who influence them.

Skip is the father of three and son to the late missionary, Bud Garmo (of New Tribes Mission). He currently resides in California with his wife, Jan.
